STATE LAW REQUIRES REPORTING OF NEW HIRES BY EMPLOYERS

Many people in South Carolina, particularly John Graham Altman, are concerned about "the problem" of undocumented immigrant workers. He wants to pass new laws placing additional responsibilities on employers. However, State Law already requires reporting of new hires by employers. This law was intended to help prevent “Deadbeat Parents” from working under the table, thereby avoiding their child support obligations. However, enforcing compliance with the law would resolve many of the "problems with illegals," both real and imagined.

So we ask again, "Wouldn't it be better to enforce existing laws before we pass new laws with possible unintended consequences?
