UNWED FATHERS FIGHT FOR BABIES PLACED FOR ADOPTION

This article discusses an injustice worthy of correction and a cause we could support.

Comments:
Fathers rights are now center stage in the Bahamas. Looks to me like a test of the two legal systems that pit provincial definitions of fatherhood by who signs the birth certificate versus hard science.

Whoever thought the battleground would be in the Bahamas?

We don't think this fight will remain in the Bahamas. Anna Nicole Smith was not a citizen and we believe science (DNA) will win out in this case. Howard K. Stern is both a U. S. citizen and an attorney, so we suspect that, at the end of the day, he will surrender the baby if he is not the biological father.

Regardless of the eventual outcome of the paternity aspects of this case, the conduct of Broward County Circuit Court Judge Larry Seidlin in the proceedings over who should get Smith's body and where she should be buried was a disgrace.

As we predicted, science won out. The DNA controlled the paternity contest between Stern and the biological father.
