PRIORITIZING GOVERNMENT SPENDING

In her piece, "A bean museum or a tax cut? If only it were that simple," Cindi Ross Scoppe discusses the false choice between tax cuts and wasteful government spending. She writes, "The problem is that legislators spend too much money on wants while ignoring our state’s very real, very unmet needs."

We agree that the "choice" between the Bean Museum and tax cuts is a false choice and that the real choice is to determine how best to allocate limited resources. Along these lines, we have suggested one such choice that should be made and have explained our reasoning for making that choice at FUNDS FOR GOOD PROGRAM DENIED--FUNDS FOR BAD PROGRAM APPROVED.
