ASSISTING NON-CUSTODIAL PARENTS WITH ACCESS & VISITATION

Before we go too far in one direction on the issue of child support collection, we would like to remind everyone of this post. More important, we would like to call attention to this Grant Program.

The first time you are behind in a child support payment the Clerk issues a Rule. The parent receiving the payment has to do nothing, but show up in Court. The first time, the non-custodial parent is denied visitation what happens? Nothing, unless you are able to anticipate the problem, have an police officer review your Custody Agreement and agree with you, escort you to the pick up point, witness the denial and then file a police report recording the incident. After that it is up to the non-custodial parent to hire an attorney, file an action and then, maybe, they will get some relief. Good luck with reform on this issue.
