SOUTH CAROLINA PARENTS' RIGHTS LEGISLATION

S. 640 would require that the counseling and therapy records for minor children be open to both parents equally. There are those that do not think this legislation is needed because counseling and therapy records are already available to the non-custodial parent under the current statute. But, in any case, those who sponsored this Amendment have not made it a legislative priority, so it does not look like it will pass this year.

Comments:
Well what's wrong with redundancy in the law? There aren't enough laws on the books anyway to handle this right? Or are there?

There appear to be "laws on the books" "to handle this." And if there are not, then the proposed amendment should have taken high priority. The fact that it was not pushed vigorously suggests that the Bill's sponsors are only interested in making points with their supporters rather than addressing a real problem. Pandering again raises its ugly head.
